Once a symbol of nobility and spiritual devotion, paisley originated in ancient Persia (where it was known as boteh), the design symbolised life, eternity and fertility. It spread to India, particularly in Kashmiri textiles, where it became a prominent motif in handwoven shawls. Our paisley silk scarf is designed with tasselled ends.
